Durham Bulls Game

We went to the Durham Bulls game on Saturday (a bMx perk) and Caleb actually sat and watched the game this time! He liked to clap when everybody else was clapping and he especially like meeting the mascots (although with his kinda scared looking face it was hard to tell).

(umm...you want to do what? pick me up?.....ummm)

Daytrip to Wrightsville Beach, NC

Here's a few pics from our daytrip to Wrightsville Beach, NC....we hadn't intended to go there because of Hurricane Bill but on our way to visit the Aquarium in Wilmington, we saw that there were tons of cars that were headed to the beach even though the news was trying to deter people from going because of possibly dangerous riptides. All we had were our suits and a couple of towels but we had an amazing time!

The highlight for me was finding out that you could order freshly steamed crablegs from the pier for $10! (I felt like a wierdo taking a picture of myself eating one but I couldn't resist). There's nothing quite like sitting on the beach on a beautifully breezy day watching your family frolic in the waves and enjoying the beach with a fresh and very yummy crableg in your hand :)

We've been here in NC for a little over 6 years now and we are just now learning what NC has to offer by venturing out and exploring. This is all thanks to Jay being in school and me quitting my 2nd job...we have much more freedom and lots more time to spend together as a family. I feel blessed and it gives me emotional armor to deal with my busy season coming up at work.
The only downside is that me (and only me) got sunburned. Winds that made the 95 degree day feel like it was only in the 80s coupled with lots of time in the water (the strong currents were so much fun!) = me getting a sunburn all over my face and back. ugh. My first bad sunburn. :P Oh yeah,....and because we hadn't originally planned on going to the beach, we left our boogie boards at home so we didn't get to really enjoy the surf like we had wanted.
All in all it was a beautiful day.

"Orange" cheese!

Just goofing around with some orange slices :) Having the weeknights free is amazingly comforting to the soul.

We went to the Cameron Village library yesterday and they had this display and Caleb wanted a picture taken of himself in front of this 'door'....

Final Shift

So just this past Saturday, I had my last and final shift at Bath&Bodyworks. Can't say that I'm going to miss going to work "after work" and not having any of the weekends to myself. I am going to miss the people that I've met during those 8 months (even though it was a revolving door). Bottom line is that I decided to quit because the extra money wasn't worth time away from Caleb. I didn't know that Caleb really understood what was going on until yesterday....when I announced to him that I quit my second job and that from now on I'll be home every night and weekends. He kept asking me "no more work Mommy?"....and for pretty much the entire day, he was stuck to me like glue. It made me feel sad that I had done it for so long. I had assumed (incorrectly) that he wouldn't notice.

So yesterday was the first day of my new plan to have more time for Caleb and Jay...and it was WONDERFUL. We spent a few hours cleaning and organizing the house and then sat down to watch "The Soloist". We cooked and ate and then cooked and ate some more. This pic is of Caleb eating his standard breakfast fare (minus the waffle he usually requests but for some reason he wanted us to make him toast and then didn't eat it).

So now we'll try to eke out the next month and enjoy all the time we'll have together.

And b/c I'm a nerd like that, here's a pic of me at B&BW for old times sake...

Flash in Training

So...we took Caleb to the Durham Bulls game yesterday (thanks to Xiaoxia & her extra PwC tickets) and while he had fun watching the game and watching all the people, he had a LOT of fun playing in the kiddie zone where they had a maze ($3/15 min!) and the playground....he wouldn't stand still enough for a picture so I thought that I would post them anyways b/c it's funny how he's a blur in every single one. My son....flash in training. :)
