Milk

Just a pic to show how Caleb still LOVES his milk....he won't eat much (other than plain white rice, chicken nuggets, fruit snacks and doritos) but he loves his milk.

Haircut!

Below would be the before picture....before we went to get all of Caleb's hair cut off. The barber shop was full and there was a collective sigh when the barber took the first cut. He now looks like a different kid....Jay didn't want to cut it. He said we did it because it was my birthday weekend and since I wanted it cut, we cut it.

Posing

Caleb has taken a liking to getting onto the end of the bed and leaping off and giggling his little head off....we tried to get a picture of him doing it but as soon as we whip out our handy dandy picture phones, he averts this eyes and gets this look on his face....like he's posing....or trying to look au natural in the picture....

On his leg there is a roll of tape. Don't ask us why he has it on his leg.

And yes,....his hair....about that. Jay wants to grow it so that it can be braided....I'm voting for cutting it short but Jay thinks that the short hair makes him look older than he is. I'll say this, he's had a growth spurt within the last week and he's has seemingly just shot up in height. Weight, not so much.

Caleb the Wizard

On Friday, we had originally intended to go trick or treating at Crabtree Valley Mall....our plans changed when Jay got sick and the doctor told him that he had a flu-like stomach virus and shouldn't be at work for 7 days. We figured that pretty much meant that he should be quarantined so we decided to join in on the neighborhood festivities. We handed out candy (that's me in my last minute costume....waitress) and rung all the neighbors houses for candy. Caleb would take one peice and when the neighbors would offer another one (since most kids were taking handfuls), he'd shake his head and indicate that he only wanted on peice. He even gave candy back when they didn't pass his inspection.

YAY!!!

I forgot the most important news of all yesterday!!! So...Jay and I were sitting there watching a movie and Caleb wanders into the downstairs bathroom. Jay (out of curiosity) strolls in and was told by Caleb to "go outside!"....so Jay sits back down to watch the movie....after a few minutes (a few QUIET minutes) it was my turn to stroll into the bathroom to see what was going on....and I stand there not comprehending the sight....I saw a diaper....and what's in the potty!!!???? YAAAAAAAYYYYYY.....he peepee'ed in the potty!!!! This was the first time! It reaffirms my belief that he KNOWS what the potty is for and he KNOWS what he's supposed to do...he just chooses not to. Because not even an hour later, he stinks in his diaper. grrrrr.

Well, it's a start I suppose. I was so happy yesterday!

Caleb the Monster....

We went to TK's Jungle for Julius' birthday and Caleb's terrible twos came out....he threw a fit when the lady wanted to put a wristband on him....threw another fit when she realized that she had put on the wrong color and needed to put on another one....cried and didn't want to go into any of the 'bouncy' rooms....didn't want to eat anything...(except for the chips that I had to pay extra for)....didn't want to sit and drink his juice with all the other kids...didn't want to be near the other kids....didn't want cake....didn't want to take his shoes off and THEN didn't want to put his shoes back on....(SIGH)....

I thought that I had gotten off easy with the terrible twos....turns out he just hadn't released the monster yet. Parents were coming up to me and patting me on the shoulder saying "don't worry, it'll get better"...and I'm thinking "When did I become the sympathy mom???!!!! The mom that people feel sorry for since their toddlers are acting CRAZY!!???"....

At the end of the day, Caleb comes to me to cuddle and asks me to sit beside him to watch his WowWowWubbzy....and when he puts his little head next to mine, I breathe....and hug his little monster butt right back....

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go

We found Caleb upstairs oneday in this gettup. He had on a pajama top, sweatpants, Daddy's Jordans (on the wrong feet), Daddy's camo cookout hat, and his backpack. He said..."All Ready!"...We said "For What???!!!"....he said "Let's Go"....we said "Ok, See you later!"....and off he went stomping around on Daddy's Jordans....

He also likes to put those shoes on and call himself a robot....he watched (well, semi-watched) Iron Man with us....and everytime the character put on the Iron Man costume, Caleb would clomp around in Daddy's shoes....

Jay and I went to the fair by ourselves yesterday and had a blast! It was a long over due and much needed 'hooky' day. We dropped Caleb off at daycare and we both went to the fair, ran errands....just had a blissfully happy day....not that we don't love spending time with Caleb...it was just nice to get out and be by ourselves for once. I think that we're going to try to do that more often....

State Fair '08

We went to the fair on Sunday with Caleb and this year was the first year that he was JUST tall enough to ride some of the rides. He had a blast and it was so much fun! I think that his favourite part was the petting zoo (pics to follow later)....he got a huge kick out of feeding sliced carrots to the various animals.

Also....as a nod to my Vancouver friends, I always make it a point to find unusual fried foods on the menu....this year,...."deep fried pecan pie"....while I didn't muster up the courage to actually try one of these horrifically fattening treats, it did titillate my imagination.

Caleb here at work....

On Friday, Caleb had to come into work with me....he had strep throat and couldn't go into daycare....doctor siad that as long as the adults knew he was sick and made sure to wash their hands after touching him, they should be fine....so I warned all my co-workers that there was a sick child on premise. If I wasn't so slammed busy, I would have stayed home with him. Instead, we went to the doctors (we were the first drop ins of the day) and then from there went straight to the pharmacy and then straight into work where he slept underneath my desk. After he woke up from his nap, he didn't look too well so we packed up and headed home. The second photo is day two of the amoxicillan (sp?)....he was like a totally different person after the antibiotics kicked in.

Zachary's Birthday

Zachary had his first birthday party a few weekends ago. Caleb got there (grumpy) as you can see in the picture there with him holding the dog....but he eventually warmed up...

....enough to start playing with all the toys that Zachary got. He loved this rocking horse that Zachary got...

Talking to Auntie

Here's Caleb talking to Auntie yesterday. He's talking more and more and I'm often surprised at how coherent he really is. Although, you may have to ask Auntie if she required a translation. Daddy does from time to time.

30lbs...

Daddy's been doing the P90X workout dvds.....and there's a lot of push ups in the series....Caleb likes to add intensity to the workout by climbing on Daddy's back and adding 30lbs to the set....

The Swingset

We've been on the market for a swingset for awhile and these thing are so expensive! BUT!....I lucked out one day while on craigslist....found somebody wanting to get rid of theirs for $100....and even lent us a trailer to haul it back to our house!.....now Caleb's favourite thing is being pushed on the swing and going up and down the slide.....

Labor Day Swimming

So we went swimming at Kristen & Stan's pool on labor day Monday....we figured probably the last day that we'd be able to get out and into the pool before the fall. Funny thing....we ran out of swim diapers so I just had him in a pullup....and then we were wondering why he didn't really want to be in the pool....turns out the pullup was secreting some sort of gel and it was making him uncomfortable....and we didn't realize until (what seemed like) hours later.

Anyways...it was funny to us....perhaps not to Caleb.

A Typical Day

Here's a typical day at the Sennet household. Caleb still loves drinking his milk and likes for his sippy cup to be filled with ice-cold milk. Right when we get home, I change out of my work clothes and we settle down on the couch and have some quiet milk drinking time. Behind me would be the stacks of laundry typical of the workweek.....

At the Park

Caleb loves to go to the park....there's one just a few minutes away....although it's still hot out there so I usually can only manage about an hour before I'm asking him whether we can go home or not. His favourite part is still the swings....he insists on getting 'blue' on the swings and giving him a push before I put him in his own and he just giggles away when he's swinging....it's so sweet.

I see a Monster

Caleb's favourite book right now is about Monsters.

"I see a Monster hairy and red....Where is he hiding?"...and he'll say "Under the Bed!" (which IS the next line in the book...he's practically got it memorized) He knows all the answers to each of the different pages.

And end of the book, it has a little mirror and he growls into it like he's a little monster....it's so cute!

We've also started a reward chart. Stickers for 1) Cleaning Up 2) Reading a Book 3) Potty 1 and 4) Potty 2....there are lots of stickers in the first two categories...and none for the last two....no potty action yet.

Durham Bulls game

Last Friday, we went to the Durham Bulls game (vs Richmond Braves) for a bioMerieux sponsered event. Caleb had a blast seeing people and eating ballpark food. The game was packed full of people and for $8/ticket (regular price) the cost of going really depends on the food you consume on premises. The food was surprisingly yummy....we had philly cheesesteak, fully loaded nachos, an icee, cotton candy, hotdogs, popcorn....yeah, we loaded up.
Maybe when Forrest and Michelle get here next week, we'll have to go to a game...
